Using AI safely: a practical data guide for the UAE and KSA

AI can transform how you work, but only if your data stays protected. Here is what to ask before you start.

Know where your data lives

Ask where data is stored and processed. For many organisations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, hosting in the region is important, and sometimes required.

Never train public models on your data

Make sure your provider uses enterprise AI services where your data is not used to train public models, and that this is written into the agreement.

Control who sees what

AI agents should only access the information each user is allowed to see. Role-based access and full audit logs keep sensitive data in the right hands.

Follow the local rules

The UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the Saudi PDPL set clear expectations for consent, purpose and data rights. Build these into your AI projects from the start.
